ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine the impact of strict supervision on teachers’ effectiveness in some selected secondary schools in Adamawa state. Specifically, the study examine the reason for strict supervision of teachers in Adamawa state, find out the impact of strict supervision on the effectiveness of teachers in Adamawa State, evaluate the impact of appraisal on teachers’ job performance in Adamawa State and investigate if checking of professional documents affects teachers effectiveness. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 141 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that the reason for strict supervision of teachers in Adamawa state is to provide accountability, exploring practice and Exploring performance. The study also revealed the impact of strict supervision on the effectiveness of teachers in Adamawa State is it improved teachers responsiveness, Increased performance and Improved motivation. The study further revealed the impact of appraisal on teachers’ job performance in Adamawa State is it expose teachers to their point of strength, helps in employees' personal growth and creating an environment of open communication. Lastly, the study revealed checking of professional documents affects teachers effectiveness. The study thereby recommend that principals should provide the medium of assisting teachers to improve their teaching skills and knowledge through various interactions in the school environment. Also, the teachers should be encouraged to be more practical through demonstration method in order to concretize students’ independent skills and talents.
